iPhone Tips & Hacks

You’re the happy owner of an iPhone device and you’re aware of all of its advanced capabilities, but now you’re finding yourself overwhelmed by all of the features it has to offer. Not to worry! We’ve compiled a list of iPhone tips and hacks for you to utilize and help you familiarize yourself with some of the things your iPhone can do.

1. Charge Your Phone Faster

Turning on “Airplane Mode,” which can be done by swiping up from the bottom edge of any screen, or on iPhone X or later, swiping down from the upper-right corner of the screen, can speed up charging your battery instead of allowing notifications to come through and using data in the background. Try it for yourself and see!

2. Maintain That Focus

Have you ever tried to take a picture, found the perfect point of focus by tapping the screen, and then immediately lost it? This iPhone hack will do the trick: instead of just tapping, hold down on the point of focus for one to two seconds until you see a yellow box that says “AF Locked,” which will grant you the freedom to move without losing your point of focus.

3. Correct Your Typing Without Using the Delete Button

A quick shake of your phone can delete anything you’ve typed into your notes without having to hold down the delete button. Try it for yourself by opening “Notes” or a message and shaking your device after you’ve written what you would like. After shaking your phone, a message will appear and allow you to select “Undo” to delete everything you’ve written.

4. Calculate with Ease

You might have been using your phone calculator and accidentally punched in the wrong number, only to think you have to start all over again and hit Clear — wrong! By swiping right or left on the black space where the numbers appear on your calculator, you can erase individual digits instead of the entire sequence.

5. Your iPhone Has a Ctrl + F Function in Safari

When on your computer, whenever you’re searching for a specific word or phrase on a web page or even within a document, you might utilize the “Find” (Ctrl + F) feature to narrow down your search results. You may not know, but your iPhone has a similar capability in Safari. On the web page you’d like to search, tap the browser bar at the top of your screen and type in the word or phrase you would like to find on the site. Then, instead of tapping “Go” as you usually might when using Safari’s search engine feature, scroll to the bottom of your screen. Underneath the heading of “On This Page,” you should see the number of matches of the chosen word or phrase on the page. Select the word(s) and see it highlighted on the page.

6. Use Dictation to Write a Message or Take Notes

With the iOS keyboard, you can use dictation to enter text on your device. Tap on the microphone icon on your keyboard, start speaking, and watch the text appear on your screen. You might prefer this to having to type a message or take notes on your phone.

Whether it’s better capturing a moment or learning about efficiency tools on your device, we hope these iPhone tips and hacks will not only save you time, but teach you more about your iPhone and various iOS capabilities.
