When selling or giving away an Apple device such as an iPhone, removing all settings and content from your device ensures your own safety and is necessary to complete the trade-in process. Whether you’re getting ready to send us your device or are trying to disable the setting remotely, you can find helpful guides below to walk you through the process.

How to Turn Off Find My iPhone Before Sending Device to Trademore

1. Go to Settings on your device, then select your name. Select iCloud, then Turn off Find My iPhone. This will remove your iOS device from that function.

2. You can also remove Find My iPhone by simply erasing the contents and settings on your device. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Once you erase all of your content, Find My iPhone is also turned off.

How to Disable Find My iPhone After You’ve Sent your Device

1. In order to disable Find My iPhone, you first have to remotely erase the contents of the device. To do so, go to the Find My iPhone feature on iCloud.com. If you do not see the Find My iPhone feature on iCloud.com, you’ll need to set up iCloud on your iOS device or on your Mac computer. Select All Devices and select the device you wish to remove. Then, click Erase and enter your Apple ID password. Since the device isn’t lost, do not enter a phone number. Note: If the device happens to be offline, the remote erase will begin the next time it’s online and you should receive an email that it has been erased.

2. Once the device is erased, click Remove from Account and all of your settings and content should be erased and others can activate the device with their information.

Note: When Apple sends you an email about the changes made to your device, do not proceed to turn your Find My iPhone settings back on as this sometimes confuses people.

We hope this guide from Trademore helps you proceed with the appropriate steps to disable the Find My iPhone feature on your device. With Find My iPhone disabled, you can help ensure that your personal data is protected and your trade-in goes smoothly.
